06 October 2011 The Minutes announce new live dates
Dublin cousins Mark and Shane have been playing together since they were nippers – all Fisher Price guitars and Chad Valley backlines. The two of them only got serious with the addition of Tom sometime in the late noughties, consequently mapping out a star chart using Johnny Marr, Lenny Kaye’s ‘Nuggets’ album and Thin Lizzy as the principal sources of illumination and inspiration.
‘Black Keys’ is the band’s debut British release and sees the trio open their account this side of the Irish Sea in fine style, channeling the primal surge of rampant garage rock ‘n’ roll with their own take of the blues – think Jon Spencer Blues Explosion colliding head on with Dr Feelgood and you’re halfway there.
The band’s reputation as gig thirsty tour monsters is well earned and having honed their craft on home soil have more recently added low key live outings in London and a storming set at this year’s Reading / Leeds Festival to their CV and this Autumn sees a host of live dates so miss ‘em at your peril!
