15 March 2010 The Courteeners - Take Over The World
With their reputation as a live band going from strength to strength and the inevitable ‘difficult second album’ syndrome having been slayed comprehensively, the quartet from Manchester have made great strides since their 2008 debut, ‘St Jude’. ‘Falcon’ emerged earlier this month to armfuls of plaudits into a hitherto unknown territory of rousing yet passionate vignettes of life and relationships.
“Liam Fray is at his best with his eye to the keyhole.” (Q 4 stars)
‘Falcon isn’t just a good album it’s a damn-near great one.” (NME)
‘Take Over The World’ strikes a chord almost immediately with Liam Fray’s emotive vocal underpinned with piano and a naggingly seductive musical undertone that soars majestically before unfurling into an emphatic chorus that will undoubtedly be a favourite come the end of the band’s upcoming live dates. The single is released on 2 x 7” singles, CD and download with new tracks available across the formats.
