04 April 2011 Beady Eye - Across The Universe
Beady Eye have announced they will release a cover of The Beatles track ‘Across The Universe’ today – Monday 4th April 2011 – proceeds of which will go to the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal. The band headlined a concert last night where they brought together The Coral, Graham Coxon, Paul Weller, Kelly Jones, Primal Scream and Richard Ashcroft to play Brixton Academy in London to raise money for the charity, and over £150,000 has been raised so far from proceedings.
Beady Eye, who played their very first gig a month before the Brixton date, recorded and mixed the song in RAK Studios in a single eight hour session on Saturday night (2nd April) and it’s live premier was at the show. It will be available for a limited period to download through their website (www.beadyeyemusic.com) . All proceeds from the sale of the track after VAT, credit card fees and mcps (62p) will go directly toward the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal.
